Shouldn't that read "I was probably racing in too high a grade"? |

Correct - I should be in C/D but was cooking for lunch guests and was running late. Nearly did not race at all.
I was told the C/D race was a good race. I probably would have done the same thing I did in A/B and hit it hard from the start with no warm up, while smarter heads let others do the early work.
That said, I really really enjoyed A/B and could have happily sat on the back, and perhaps taken turns, for the remainder of the race - it was fast-ish but bearable, even for a slow fat bastard like me as long as I avoided a particular person's wheel (who loses 3 lengths per lap). Sure, I was a lap down but the time between being dropped and getting lapped was WAY harder than the times before and after.
Good for my head in some ways, to be able to hang in there (sort of, I know). Vast contrast to Saturday...there was nearly a very cheap Argon 18 Platinum up for sale Saturday night after being dropped by D grade. |

exactly the " excuse" for the E Graders who had to race against C/D.
I don't mind being in the same race as long as I don't get pulled out . The Central Coast crits run with all grades at once, but staggered starts and you don't get pulled out even if you are lapped by your own grade. ( The course is about twice as long, but the corners can be trickier and the road surface is not as good as Steel River).

Gai,
despite what your continued complaints, the clubs have always tried their best to provide a race for ALL cyclists, including you. The Commissaire's decision to pull you, and others, out of the race after going a lap down, was the correct one. Apart from safety issues when slower riders get in the way af faster riders with therefore higher risks of accidents, there is the issue of lack of volunteers to moniter the riders.
As I have mentioned before, you would be best served to try and get your fellow E graders to turn up to these races and therefore give the club(s) an oportunity to run a separate race (time permitting) for you. We have been down this path with you before. Safety decisions are made by the attending Commissaire as its his house that is riding on his decisions.
I am hoping you can get some riders of equivalent ability to race alongside you. |

For the record, I was not in any way complaining about being pulled out of the race by Mick - his call as Commissaire. I would have liked being able to hang in but happily accept his decision and still accept his decision. My comment was intended to be funny and nothing more - I am rapidly developing more excuses than The Choker.
I suspect Mick's reason for pulling Nigel Perry and I out of the race was different to why he pulled Gai out of the C/D crit. Nige and I were on the back of the A/B bunch one lap down, and were the only people who were a lap down, and I guess that might have been potentially confusing for some (although I did not see any indication of confusion). There was no risk of a faster bunch overtaking a slower rider at all. So I suspect SuperCoach was looking at it from a fairness perspective, rather than from one of safety.
There was also no need for monitoring - we (Perry and I) were in the one bunch. |

Re lapped riders
Mick stated at the start of the crit that all lapped riders would be removed from the course. this has always been his position and as commassire of the day his is the final say.
Metro (for super slow rider ahead) you may also have been removed from the course if you had ridden C,D grade. |

Masso, you might be right. Although, Mr Cox thought I would have been right in C/D grade - he said I would not have won (no disagreement from me there) but that he thought I would have finished (would have made a nice change).
I actually find the A/B grade bunch a bit easier to sit on than the C/D grade bunch on that squoval course. I find more in C/D grade slow a bit on each corner than in A/B grade, and that (for me) is more taxing than just keeping the pace relatively steady. |

3 days of racing over the long weekend and not one win.
Why? Here are the excuses/reasons:
Sat - too wet, didn't race;
Sun - too early (daylight saving), didn't race; and
Mon - too tired (night out before), didn't race. |

My results read similar, however I did start all races but only managed to finish one and as the 2nd loser. |
